Force field development

In order to do reliable and realistic modeling of lipid bilayers a robust force field is required. Historically, these types of systems have been very difficult to simulate under the correct conditions (i.e. without fixed area or a fixed surface tension). We have systematically derived and validated a force field that can reproduce a number of properties measured in experiments without using the mentioned ad hoc solutions.

The force field we have designed is called Stockholm lipids after the city where we work and live.
